Chavot will be heading up new restaurant Bob Bob Cité at the giant Cheesegrater building come January 2018. The ‘Press for Champagne buttons’ and all-booth seating that made its older sibling, Soho’s Bob Bob Ricard, so likeable will also feature.
Expect dumplings filled with snails and chicken kiev with a brioche stuffing. The restaurant’s owner, Leonid Shutov, is renowned for his wine lists, and the mark-ups, especially on the more special bottles, will be unusually modest. For real wine (and vodka) buffs, the prospect of auctions sounds promising too.
We like the sound of the miniature 9-seater sushi restaurant within a restaurant. Though we’re rather dubious about the idea of standard and executive rooms, presumably the latter being posher and more expensive.
But Chavot’s topnotch reputation and the French-meets-Russian
food is enough to put this new opening on all self-respecting foodies’
radars.
