Where to find the best pancakes: London, 2022
Hankering for dutch babies, hoppers or okonomiyaki? Here's our list of the best places in London for the most interesting pancakes from around the world.
Seven Dials newbie Apple Butter Café barely had time to bed in before the pandemic forced the hospitality sector to shutter. The all-day Middle Eastern joint on Monmouth Street – which ordinarily serves up pancakes with figs, mixed berries, fruit compote and Chantilly cream (yours for £11.50) – has been known to add specials to its menu for Pancake Day. Previous years have seen the likes of banana and salted caramel; Lotus biscuit and chocolate ganache; an English rhubarb and rose compote with honeycomb and Chantilly cream; and creamed mushrooms and tarragon, all added to the list. (Check the café's Instagram for details of this year's specials.) And to drink? Pair your pancakes with the café’s signature cold-brew coffee.
