Best unusual brunches in London
Our passionate love affair with brunch shows no sign of abating, but with so many options out there, where to go? It sometimes pays off to avoid the obvious choices...
Gold, Notting Hill’s new-for-2019 modern European restaurant is, without doubt, a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. Whatever the time of year, the garden room is where to sit with its glass roof (which retracts in summer) and lush oasis of palm fronds, glossy ferns and emerald foliage. The restaurant is headed up by former River Café chef Theo Hill and everything is cooked in wood ovens or over flame, so expect a lot of chargrilling, roasting and braising.
Even for brunch? Yes, because while tables are available from 11am, there’s no bespoke brunch menu. In other words, Gold is ideal for those who’d rather sail past eggs-based dishes and straight through to exquisite takes on salads, pasta dishes, roasted meats or charcuterie.
