Cardi B has since given birth to her daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus, whose father is Migos member Offset. The pair split up following the birth, but according to recent reports are now back together. Both parties are sharing Wireless headlining duties with their respective acts on the Friday night.
The three-day festival continues on Saturday 6 July with American rapper, singer and songwriter Travis Scott headlining. Scott was among the Wireless headliners in 2017 and is supposedly making Wireless his only UK festival in 2019. Scott recently performed in the Super Bowl half-time show and has been nominated for three 2019 Grammy Awards. Scott will be joined on the Saturday night by special guest Future and major rappers Lil Uzi Vert and Stefflon Don.
Sunday will see acclaimed American rapper A$AP Rocky lead the show with support from fellow rappers Lil Baby and Gunna, and hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd.
Wireless has well and truly shrugged off its original image as an indie and pop festival, and is now etched in the festival calendar as a prominent urban music festival specialising in rap, grime and R’n’B. Tickets sold out in 2018, with Stormzy headlining and Drake stepping in to save the day last minute on the Sunday, when scheduled headliner DJ Khaled pulled out. While hopefully Wireless 2019 won’t see any last-minute cancellations, at least we can rest assured this is a festival the top dogs are willing to drop everything to support.
