Historic and beautiful Chatsworth House, near Bakewell, Derbyshire, is hosting five centuries of costumes, uniforms and gowns – all worn at the stately home by illustrious guests and former residents. The event is sponsored by Gucci, which has a long-standing fascination with the house – and rightly so, as it was once home to Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire (she of the 2008 film starring Kiera Knightley), the Mitford sisters and, more recently, model Stella Tennant. The show comes with its own glossy coffee-table book.

Join model and socialite Laura Cavendish, Countess of Burlington, and Sarah Mower, Vogue fashion journalist, at the V&A lecture theatre. Their talk and presentation delves into the personal stories behind the clothes, details how the exhibition came about, and also hopefully explains why its posh residents loved dressing up so much.
