The JW Anderson X Uniqlo high street collaboration went down a storm last winter, with everyone trying to lay their hands on puffer coats and puffer bags, trenches and bright stripy scarves and jumpers. You can see our highlights here.
J. W. Anderson announced that he would collaborate with Uniqlo on another collection last year and the first looks have now been released on Instagram. We hope you like bucket hats.
A short film showed models on Brighton beach debuting the looks, which are suitably navy and nautical.
With their similar approaches to modern, classic and often gender-fluid dressing, JW Anderson and Uniqlo are an exciting combination.
Fashion designer J.W. Anderson said, 'The first Uniqlo and J.W.Anderson collaboration was super exciting for me and I am very happy with the results. I am proud of it and I think the pieces are incredibly well made. The line was also a good bridge between the ideal of British classicism and my own brand. The 2018 spring/summer collection is about items that interlink with each other. It's about layering this time. The idea is to mix and match things together and I truly hope you will enjoy it."
J.W. Anderson grew up in Northern Ireland before studying at the LCF and working for Prada. He launched a menswear line followed by women's collections and has won awards for both – a remarkable feat in fashion design. At The Fashion Awards 2017 he won again, for womenswear and accessories. His SS18 women's show was pared back, simple, save for the odd metallic ruffle and, as the designer said, made from "80% jersey".
Tokyo-headquartered high street clothes retailer Uniqlo. has nine London stores and the firm has hosted some impressive designer collaborations, such as Jil Sander, Opening Ceremony and Liberty. The previous, with Carine Roitfeld, ran for three strong collections. Come on, J.W., let's get a third collection lined up for autumn 2018.
The JW Anderson X Uniqlo collaboration will be available in store and online from 19 April 2018
