Love them or loathe them, the January sales are an inevitable, unmissable part of fashionable life. Since the import of Black Friday means many of them start in November it can feel like all the good stuff is long gone. But shop smart and you'll find plenty of worthy buys among the final reductions.
Our favourite tip for making the most of the sales? Apply attention to an oft-overlooked area – your underwear drawer.
Focusing on smalls is a sensible strategy: lingerie trends are slow-moving, so you'll feel less like you're buying something last-season, while a growing winter sun category means that retailers have plenty of slashed price tags.
So remove the billionth navy blazer from your basket, scroll past the chunky knits and do future you a favour by browsing for designer swimwear and lingerie that will stand you in good stead for the future months.
