As the icy clutches of winter approach, layering becomes an all-important reality. Luckily for us - and our bare legs - tights are experiencing a dance in the spotlight this year - especially those with maximalist tendencies. Think printed logomania, huge helpings of glitter and a return to colour and sheer-clad limbs. While Gucci and Fendi are arguably to blame, the OTT-tights trend has trickled down into the highstreet just in time for party season, and you can expect to see plenty of them come Christmas.

But hoisery hasn't just come on leaps and bounds in embellishment, but in technology, too. Take, for example, The Legwear Co., who are challenging tights' sustainable status as 'the singlue-use plastic of the fashion industry' by manufacturing and selling sustainable hoisery.

Daniel Clayton, the CEO of the company, estimates that there is in 'excess of 103,000 tons of hosiery waste created every year around the world … The equivalent of more than 8,000 double-decker buses'. Another brand disrupting the industry is Hedoine, crafting high-quality tights that are completely ladder-resistant. On top of this, they're completely vegan, and have shaping powers too.
