In this world of mass production, big brands, CGI and 3D printing, creativity is, shall we say, losing its personal touch.
But London Design Festival 2018, a one-week event celebrating exceptional craftsmanship, design ideas & designers from around the world, has, thankfully, shaken things up a little. This year's programme spans the city and gives voice to a roster of design events, technologies, brands, both big and small, as well as talented creators including visionary set designer Es Devlin.

In celebration of such a brilliant initiative, we've scouted out the outstanding female artists, designers and makers you should have on your radar.
Floristry is a family affair for Mayfair florist, Ellie Hartley. Starting out on her grandfather's flower stall in Notting Hill as a teenager, Ellie went on to train at the prestigious Moyses Steves on Sloane Street.
Now the resident florist at Brown's Hotel, Hartley is master of her craft and the proud founder of Dover Street's first floral boutique, Ellie Hartley Flowers.
