The 8 female artists to know now
In this world of mass production, big brands, CGI and 3D printing, creativity is, shall we say, losing its personal touch.
But London Design Festival 2018, a one-week event celebrating exceptional craftsmanship, design ideas & designers from around the world, has, thankfully, shaken things up a little. This year's programme spans the city and gives voice to a roster of design events, technologies, brands, both big and small, as well as talented creators including visionary set designer Es Devlin.

In celebration of such a brilliant initiative, we've scouted out the outstanding female artists, designers and makers you should have on your radar.
One woman connects Beyoncé, the 2012 Olympics, Carey Mulligan and a whole host of contemporary theatre blockbusters: Es Devlin. Olivier-winning stage designer Es Devlin has shifted the typical dynamic of backstage creatives to become as high profile as the performers on her stages.
Whether designing for Lady Gaga's latest world tour, creating immersive installations for the V&A or, indeed, a new roaring Lion immersive sculpture for London Design Festival 2018, Devlin's sets are show-stopping.
Winner of the Panerai London Design Medal in 2017, Devlin is now one of the most-sought after stage-set designers in the world.
