This spring, The New Craftsmen, London (the Mayfair showcase for the finest craft makers in Britain) is transformed into the ateliers of four craftsmen and women.
By bringing their studios out of the shadows and onto the shop floor, customers will be allowed a unique and intimate insight into the working processes behind a range of new and exclusive products made whilst in residency.
Kicking off the event from 3rd -14th February, ceramics artist and illustrator Laura Carlin adds a contemporary twist to Dutch Delftware by hand painting scenes from everyday London in the traditional ‘Delft blue’ colourway.
Next, visitors will find maker of ceramics, Stuart Carey, experimenting at his potter’s wheel on his first venture into lighting from 17th – 21st February.
The week after, you can catch textile designer, Catarina Riccabona, weaving from a loom using hemp, silk and hand-dyed fine linen.
The final phase takes us into March, when designer Lola Lely produces modular Maker’s tables in collaboration with other artisans (and even audience participation).
This design event London is a rare insight into how a modern craftsman works and a chance to find some exclusive products from the hand-selected designers at The New Craftsmen.
