So you’ve got your sustainable wardrobe down and you’re a winner at ethical eating. Now it’s time to turn that eco-focus towards your home. There are a host of homewares and furniture studios dedicated to helping you make your pad look great whilst also allowing you to do good for the environment. From responsibly-sourced materials to recycled pieces, here are the best sustainable furniture brands to have on your radar.

Nikari

Scandinavian brands have been leaders in sustainable design, often using raw, recyclable materials such as wood. However, sustainable furniture is also about reducing carbon emissions within the manufacturing and delivery process. Finnish design studio Nikari not only create environmentally-friendly products using wood from Northern European forests which accord with the principles of sustainability and biodiversity but they also work to reduce emissions with their deliveries by using more efficient transport journeys. What’s more, all of their packaging is recyclable.

H&M Conscious

H&M are battling their bad rap as purveyors of fast fashion through a number of sustainability pledges. Their Conscious homewares range is a great place to shop responsibly-made products that don’t break the bank. All products contain at least 50 percent sustainable materials such as organic cotton and recycled polyester, and the brand has pledged that it will only use 100 percent recycled or sustainably sourced materials in all their collections by 2030. This year, they even picked up PETA's seal of approval by winning a Vegan Homeware Awards for its Conscious Patterned Cotton Rug, available to buy online now.

Weaver Green

Tash and Barney Green made it their mission to battle against plastic in landfill sites and oceans after their travels around Asia. Since then, they have recycled over 80 million plastic bottles by turning them into gorgeous rugs and textiles through their interiors brand, Weaver Green. Many of their products not only do good but also look and feel good by mimicking the touch and feel of materials such as cotton and wool.

Sebastian Cox

If you’re looking to invest in some sustainable statement pieces, then look no further than Sebastian Cox. The design studio and workshop finds inspiration by looking over material history and championing past design traditions by using only a limited selection of biodegradable materials to create functional but beautiful furniture pieces. Their east London workshop is also a testing site for new technologies where they experiment with growing compostable furniture.

Wearth London

Wearth is the ultimate online mecca for sustainable homewares and products. Since its creation in 2017, the brand have partnered with over 100 independent UK brands which champion contemporary eco-friendly and ethical designs.
