A word of warning: if you like your shows traditionally structured with musicians on one side and a group of dancers on stage interpreting the work of a mostly out-of-sight choreographer, then this show is not for you.
Inspired by, among others, John Cage’s uncompromising approach to performance, Burrows and Fargion now propose two works in a one-hour show where the musician and choreographer themselves – balding, bearded and middle-aged - move about the stage to illustrate the dialogue between music and words.
One Flute Note challenges the classical thinking behind how the body is choreographed, while Body Not Fit For Purpose is the duo's first overtly political work that uses news headlines to inspire music and dance. Taken together, the two pieces work by questioning many of the issues surrounding contemporary performance rather than providing definitive answers; and do so with wit and not a little humour. Definitely worth a visit if you like your performances to be challenging and thought-provoking,
