Ticketholders can look forward to an exciting variety of performances from a wide range of dance styles, as the dance community does its bit for the victims of a tragedy that touched the hearts of Londoners.
Royal Ballet principal Edward Watson will take part, as will Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, Russia’s Mariinksy Ballet showcasing British dancer Xander Parish, Ballet Black, Rambert and ZooNation.
The glittering line-up also includes various Strictly Come Dancing performers; from English National Ballet Rina Kanehara and Aitor Arrieta, winners of Emerging Dancer 2017; Danny Collins and Rachel Muldoon, stars of the Old Vic’s dance thriller, Jekyll and Hyde; the immensely versatile Tommy Franzen and breakdancer Xena Gusthart; and Dance Dance Dance champions Jonny Labey and Chrissie Brooke.
Names are still being added to the cast list, as more dancers come forward keen to be part of this gala.
All proceeds will be donated to The Kensington & Chelsea Foundation, the independent charity running the relief fund for people whose lives have been devastated by the Grenfell Tower fire.
The Grenfell Tower, a block of 129 public housing flats in North Kensington, was engulfed by flames in the early hours of Wednesday June 14. Police believe at least 80 people died, and surviving residents have been left homeless and heartbroken.
Arlene Phillips said of the event: 'I began to wonder if there was a way that I could help, maybe even make a small difference. I thought, dance is my world, my life, so how could I galvanise and bring the dance community together to raise funds for those who need it most, now and into the future.'
Gala for Grenfell has been organised by Phillips with dance critic Graham Watts and Guy Chapman, managing director of the arts agency Target Live.
This show is an unmatched opportunity to enjoy dazzling displays of diverse dance while supporting the Londoners affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.
