There might not be a composer alive as recognizable as Enrico Morricone. From the moment the opening peals from A Fistful of Dollars starts up, you’re transported to the Wild West. He has crafted around five hundred scores for film and television, several of which have won Oscars. He is the only composer to be honored with an Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement. But Morricone does not just create soundtracks. Since the late 1940s, he has produced over a hundred works in the classical tradition.
Now, hot on a heels of a successful jaunt around Europe, Morricone is back with the 60 Years of Music Tour. For his London outing, he will fill the enormous 02 Arena in North Greenwich. He will conduct a truly epic force, with over 200 musicians and singers, including the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. The programme will draw from both his classic film pieces and his concert work, with new items such as a suite that spans seven different Oscar-winning scores. It's all but guaranteed to take your breath away.
