Book now for the Barbican Murray Perahia June recital: one of the best London classical music concerts 2015.
A solo piano recital by Murray Perahia is a special occasion. The American pianist and conductor (often at the same time) is amongst the most cherished musicians playing today. having delighted audiences in all the major venues for more than forty years, winning countless major awards and a knighthood.
The programme for his recital at the Barbican next June is yet to be announced, but tickets will sell quickly, especially for sums as cheap as £10. In his recent touring, through Canada and North America, he played Bach, Beethoven, Schumann and Chopin to terrific reviews, so there’s a good chance this repertoire will feature in June. Even if it doesn’t, as a true showman, there’ll be something there for everyone.
That Benjamin Britten and Vladimir Horovitz were two of Perahia’s biggest fans is testament to his extraordinary gift; after his time, he’ll be looked back on as one of the true greats. See him while there’s the opportunity.
