So, it’s coming up to New Year and you have exhausted pretty much every film in the TV Times. How about venturing to a giant venue for an exclusive UK premiere of a film with a difference?
For the first time, the Royal Albert Hall is screening the film, The Artist, with a live score. The Artist is, in fact, the most decorated film in the history of French cinema, winning no less than seven BAFTAs, three Golden Globes, five academy awards, including best original score.
The film is set in the late 1920s and you will be encouraged to dress with Hollywood Glamour. It sees French film star Jean Dujardin playing ‘the artist’, who meets a young dancer, but the arrival of talking pictures sends their careers in opposite directions. It is a film which appeals to all nationalities because most of the action is accompanied solely by music.
The London Symphony Orchestra, which recently recorded scored for films such as Twilight and Harry Potter, has a long association with film music. This means they are undoubtedly going to give a great concert, which will be enhanced by the composer for The Artist, Ludovic Bource, performing alongside them.
The film itself will be in high definition on a large screen. The Royal Albert Hall is a pretty luxurious setting in which to watch a film and this is a significant first for them. It is also the first time they have opened their doors for New Year concerts in more than a century. Don’t miss out on this exclusive event.
