We have a little local Christmas treat here for you between Farringdon and St Paul’s. It’s a concert of carols in St Sepulchre-without-Newgate which, despite its strange name, is a really rather beautiful old church.
Following this month’s (NOV) release of their new album Of King and Angels, The Mediaeval Baebes are doing a UK tour.
The Mediaeval Baebes are a British ensemble of female musicians, founded in the 1990s by British singer and songwriter Katherine Blake. She sourced musicians with a love of medieval repertoire, which the group solely performs. They tend to rotate depending on the album, with between six and twelve members performing at any one time.
You must take their name rather literally - The Mediaeval Baebes will be in long medieval-style robes and are all very pretty women. They have performed globally and recorded soundtracks for BBC television, even appearing on Jules Holland.
This niche event is the perfect escape from Christmas shopping and will be more refined than your average Christmas party.
