Rossini is a featured composer at this year's Proms, and a highlight at Glyndebourne Festival Opera this summer is new production of his Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Here it is sung for the Proms audience in a semi-staged version, in Italian, and with the Sussex country house opera company’s house band, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and stupendous Glyndebourne Chorus conducted by Enrique Mazzola.

Danielle de Niese plays Rosina, the overprotected ward of a jealous old guardian (Alessandro Corbelli), with Bjorn Bürger as Figaro, the resourceful barber of Seville of the title, who enables the love-struck young Count Almaviva (Taylor Stanton) to win Rosina.
