If you are in the mood for some gentle French romance, make sure that on April 23 you dip into the Rendez-Vous with French Cinema festival at the Curzon Soho. They will be showing Bright Days Ahead, a buoyant drama-comedy from director Marion Vernoux.
After the screening, there will be a Q & A with the Vernoux herself, as well as with Fanny Ardant, who is perfectly cast in the film as an amorous retiree. Vernoux has described the film as a “a "survival kit" for women who have already lived their lives and are wondering what to do for the first time for the rest of their lives, but in truth its appeal is more wide reaching that that, and it will be an gorgeous event for all in love with French cinema.
