Munching on popcorn at the movies is a time-honoured tradition, but Edible Cinema steps snacking up a notch with a bespoke culinary experience designed to compliment films through texture and taste.
Having already dazzled the senses with an eclectic mix of iconic films (from Some Like it Hot to Spirited Away) Edible Cinema is turning its attention to Shakespeare's iconic love story. Baz Luhrmann’s BAFTA-winning Romeo and Juliet will be screened at the West End home of the BAFTA awards. Leonardo DiCaprio is the romantic Romeo to Claire Danes's captivating Juliet in this energetic adaptation set in modern 'Verona Beach'. To enrich the viewing experience the audience will be split — two households, both alike in dignity — into Montagues and Capulets.
Along with sights and sounds, you will experience the film with your tastebuds. Everyone is given a tray of mystery boxes full of edible treats tailor-made to eat at specific points in the film—try a ‘tongue sandwich’ as the star-crossed lovers share their first kiss and experience their final scene with a mini vial of ‘poison’.
To top it off, each 'household' gets a Bombay Sapphire cocktail, that has been inspired by the feuding Shakespearean families. Capulets will taste lime, pineapple and orange juice with bitters, while Montagues get lemon juice, orgeat syrup, orange flower water and soda.
Book quickly to get a taste of Baz Luhrmann's Verona Beach before tickets sell out.
