If you like Secret Cinema, try Future Cinema; its less enigmatic sister project. Conceived by the visionary Fabien Riggall, this is an over-the-top, immersive experience taking the form of a site-specific ‘live cinema’, that invites its viewers to partake in their chosen film’s narrative.
We suggest that this February you hotfoot it down to Troxy Cinema, for Future Cinema’s latest incarnation: the classic Looney Tunes flick Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Launching on Valentine’s Day, their revamp of the pioneering action/animation film is sure to feature live music, dancers and dancing, audience interaction, beautiful stage scenery and lots of surprises.
Each guest will be encouraged to explore their surreal surroundings as they wish, although the programme suggests a distinct split in clientele. In the afternoons this will be the perfect event for a family outing, particularly for those parents who don’t mind if their children clamber off for a meet-and-greet with a cartoon rabbit. In the evenings, the atmosphere changes, with a strict Over-18s rule, and copious cocktails served by slinky Jessica Rabbit look-a-likes. Whenever you go, we suggest that you keep one eye on the screen for subtle film-noir references and animation that nostalgically looks back to 1920s Disney and Warner Brothers classics.
