In the world of Jupiter Ascending, humans are but pawns in an intergalactic hierarchy whose overlords reside in the House of Abrasax. In fact, Earth is merely a laboratory under the administration of aliens. These aliens are waiting for human evolution to reach a state of Darwinian perfection, at which point the specimens may be harvested for a valuable serum. But if that seems a lot to chew on, matters are complicated when the matriarch of Abrassax dies, leaving the kingdom wondering who might fill this precarious power vacuum.
Enter Jupiter Jones, played by Mila Kunis (Black Swan, Ted), whose genetic make-up casts her as the true heir to the throne. Despite living amongst humans, Jupiter’s destiny extends beyond Earth and sent to guide her through this journey is interplanetary warrior Caine Wise, played by Channing Tatum (Foxcatcher, White House Down). So ensues a series of action-packed sequences to keep audiences glued to their seats. And if the Matrix trilogy was anything to go by, you won’t need to be a sci-fi nut to get the most out of this epic blockbuster.
Jupiter Ascending movie UK release date: 6th February.
