In an age where everything lives forever online, it's hard to imagine losing an entire film. But that's exactly what happened to Peter Sellers' 1961 film Mr. Topaze, described by his biographer as a 'lost classic'. Now is your first chance to watch Mr Topaze online full – It was chosen by the British public to be restored to its glory, as part of BFI's Forgotten Features collection.
It's Sellers' directorial debut; a dark comedy about a mild-mannered schoolteacher who metamorphoses into a cut-throat businessman. You can watch Mr Topaze online free via the BFI player from Thursday 28th April. It's your opportunity to seriously buff up your movie knowledge.
Other lost films being shown include Britain's 1974 entry into Cannes film festival Symptoms, a gem of Ealing Studios' glory years They Came to a City and Bless 'Em All, a slapstick classic starring the much-loved light entertainer Max Bygraves.
