He's known and loved for his bumblingly affable persona (who can forget him as Will Thacker in Notting Hill?), but he plays somewhat against type in Stephen Frears' Florence Foster Jenkins. Based on a true story, the film is about a New York opera singer whose passion for the art far outweighed her talents. Meryl Streep stars in the title role, while Grant puts in a turn as the uncharacteristically unflappable St Clair Bayfield, Florence's doting husband and manager, not to mention the man largely responsible for encouraging his wife's delusions.
On May 4, Grant joins Stephen Frears for a Q&A screening at Curzon Chelsea. Make sure to book quickly: Grant's international stardom is sure to see the event sell out fast.
