Vogue The Jewellery at Cartier, London
Cartier and Vogue collaborate for an exhibition of brilliant jewellery photography
Pop in to the Old Bond Street Cartier store in May for the Vogue The Jewellery photography exhibition.
All gems need a good setting, and this exhibition is no different, held in the luxury brand Cartier’s shop. Come to see the Cartier photographs from Vogue’s monumental jewellery photography book (Carol Woolton), published last year.
If your coffee table can’t take the weight of Vogue’s book or your bank balance can’t take the hit of a real piece of Cartier just now, then this show is a good excuse to nose around Cartier’s venue- and the exhibition is free.
Photographs will include those taken by Lord Snowdon of Elizabeth Taylor and Cecil Beaton of the Duchess of Windsor. Often these portraits tell the story of three stars: renowned photographer, glamorous celebrity and the sparkling jewels themselves. The legendary Vogue photographers Mario Testino and David Bailey also have portraits featured. What would a Vogue photography exhibition be without them?
“Cartier and Vogue share many years of collaboration in creating beautiful imagery of jewellery,” says Cartier’s MD for the UK. Vogue, marking its 100-year birthday this year has put on this exhibition as part of the celebrations.
Come and be dazzled: as Vogue cover girl and all-round diva Elizabeth Taylor says, “big girls need big diamonds”, or as Matthew Mcconaughey put it in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, “Ladies, frost yourselves”.
