Tate Tap Takeover with Burnt Mill
Tap tips: award-winning newcomer Burnt Mill is taking over the taps
On the last Thursday of every month, the taps at the Tate Modern bar are taken over by British craft breweries. These Tate Tap Takeovers provide a fun and informal space for beer makers and beer lovers alike to come together and enjoy the best of the UK’s brews with tastings, talks and activities. Next to take on the taps is a newcomer to the brewing world: Burnt Mill. The Suffolk-based brewery, established in 2017, will be showing off their brews on Thursday 30 August on the Tate Modern Terrace Bar.
Burnt Mill won last month's Raise The Bar Competition – a UK-wide contest to find the rising stars of the UK craft beer scene – for this month's Tate Tap Takeover. Judges described Burnt Mill as ‘Exuding class and not even a year old’, commenting also on their ‘well-balanced hoppy beers’ and delighting in their ‘innovative’ gluten-free brew: ‘Steel Cut Gluten Free Pale’.
On the night, guests can expect to taste a range of Burnt Mill’s craft beers, including their Tulum Pineapple Gose (4.8%), Denali fog IPA (7.4%) and the acclaimed Steel Cut Gluten Free Pale (4.7%). Attendees will also be among some of the first to taste a yet-to-be-named beer, which was created in collaboration with Finback from New York. There will also be a chance to learn more about the brewery and browse the Suffolk countryside-themed artwork that adorns their beer cans at the 'meet the brewers' talk.
