Esther Teichmann: On Sleeping and Drowning, Flowers Gallery
Esther Teichmann's latest show at Flowers Gallery on Kinglsand Road promises to plunge visitors into a watery world of fantasy and dreams
German-American artist Esther Teichmann works with photography, moving image and installation to create strange, but sensual environments that connects the natural world to the female body. Her vision transforms caves, shells, verdant forests and deep oceans into symbolic spaces dripping with fantasy and desire. And her latest show, On Sleeping and Drowning, promises to reimagine Flowers Gallery as a marine cavern of fantasy.
Teichmann’s works are beautiful but are also teeming with a myriad of mythical references and personal stories. This exhibition will include a written text and a filmic installation pulsing with erotic rhythms and watery symbolism, accompanied by an original score, written by Irish composer Deirdre Gribbin. This is set to be an immersive show, which will provide a heady mix of visual escapism and cerebral inspiration.
