Secret London Supper Club: Richard Hamilton, The Artist's Dining Room
Masterchef finalist Tony Rodd presents a supperclub dedicated to the work of Pop Artist Richard Hamilton
Artist Dining Room, Guest Projects, Shonibare Studio
It’s time to get creative. The Artist Dining Room, a bi-monthly, bring-your-own-bottle supper club, is returning to Guest Projects, Bethnal Green to welcome guest chef, Masterchef finalist Tony Rodd.
Artist Doug Fishbone will be leading guests through the evening to uncover the life and art of artist Richard Hamilton at a supperclub that looks to be one of the most trendy events London has seen in recent months. Of course we fell in love with Fishbone after he curated Dulwich Picture Gallery's tongue-in-cheek fake masterpiece earlier this year. It's also a fantastic time to get in the Pop Art mood as Tate Modern's The World Goes Pop causes a stir.
On 1 October at 7.30pm, The Artist Dining Room offers East Londoners the chance to peruse its late-night exhibitions followed by Masterchef 2015 finalist chef Tony Rodd’s three-course menu.
On the menu
With a starter entitled 'Study for a Fish-on Plate' – a 'collage' of Sea Bass with Spinach, Courgette, Aubergine, Peppers and a Provençale Sauce, we're already enticed. Next up is the Self Portrait - Rabbit on Ceramic which features, unsurprisingly, Rabbit with Pomme Mousseline, Carrots, Parsnips and a Red Wine Sauce. And to finish it all off it's an intriguing Mixed Media Apple and Blackberry with Crumble elements. For those who think food and art belong together, this certainly sounds like a must.
With an evening inspired by Hamilton's quirky and groundbreaking pop art, all food will be savoured whilst guests enjoy entertainment inspired by his work, making it one of the most unusual places to eat in London this month.
Tickets cost £40, including a welcome drink and three courses and the evening is being held on Regent’s Canal in the Guest Projects space, the initiative conceived by artist Yinka Shonibare.
Art and food collide, then, at one of the top restaurants in London in terms of innovation, as the Richard Hamilton supper club creates an alternative universe and artists' playground – much like Hamilton's studio itself.
