Reinhard Mucha, Sprüth Magers

Fiercely inventive conceptual artist Reinhard Mucha returns to Sprüth Magers just in time for Frieze London 2015

Reinhard Mucha artist, Frankfurter Block - Arbeiten am Hohlkasten 1981-2014. Installation view Sprüth Magers Berlin
Elusive German artist Reinhard Mucha has quietly made a name for himself over the last thirty years in the New York art scene. With a knack for avoiding the contemporary art world circus, but a talent for innovative conceptual artwork, he has represented Germany twice at the Venice Biennale and can be found around the world in fantastic public collections like Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou and Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Reinhard Mucha art
Mucha's vitrines and sculptures hang from walls and ceilings, like contemporary versions of Duchamp's famous readymades. Complex and filled with a rich commentary on memory, identity and power, you'll find vast contrasts between the permanent and ephemeral, connected and isolated in Mucha's art.
Sprüth Magers art gallery show
For his last show at Sprüth Magers' Berlin gallery, Mucha recreated his Frankfurter Block inspired by a seven-room installation by Joseph Beuys filled with carpeted floor and linen-clad walls. We can expect a similar visual language to take over this Sprüth Magers London exhibition, opening just in time for Frieze 2015.
