Broomberg & Chanarin: Rudiments, Lisson Gallery

Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin are a duo of photographers to watch out for. After winning the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize in 2013, they've gone on to exhibit at Tate Modern and the Museum of Modern Art New York, and with the backing of high-profile contemporary art gallery Lisson behind them, they look set for world-domination. 
Broomberg & Chanarin photography & career
The pair met aged 20 in the tiny missionary town Wuppertal in South Africa, but are now firm residents of east London where you'll find their studio above an old Huguenot silk-weavers in Spitalfields.
Perhaps their most memorable work to date has been Holy Bible, a miraculous project where Broomberg & Chanarin read all 788,258 words of the King James Bible in a single sitting and then pasted images over sections of text and underlined certain sentences.
Lisson Gallery exhibition
For their solo debut at Lisson, you'll find new photographs, moving images and performances that toy with the line between precision and chaos, empathy and sadistic pleasure. At the heart of the show is Rudiments, a collaborative project with a group of young army cadets outside Liverpool that captures the soldiers obeying instructions and marching about the camp. Thrown into the mix is a sinister clown that interrupts the routine and the curiously comic actions of the children learning how to hit each other effectively. Alongside you'll find enormous photographs of bullets colliding in mid-air and the shards of optical glass used in precision weaponry.
