Secret Supper Club London: Ana Mendieta, The Artist Dining Room ★★★★★
We're getting ready for the new supper club London art-lovers have been flooding to: The Artist Dining Room. This month it's all about Ana Mendieta.
Artist Dining Room, Guest Projects, Shonibare Studio
It’s time to get creative. The Artist Dining Room, a bi-monthly, BYOB supper club, is returning to Guest Projects, Bethnal Green to welcome guest host Thyra October Ellicott. She will be leading guests through the evening to uncover the life and art of Cuban-born american artist Ana Mendieta at a supperclub that looks to be one of the most trendy events London has seen in recent months.
London Supper Club with a Cuban twist
On Thursday 6 August at 7.30pm, The Artist Dining Room offers East Londoners the chance to peruse its late-night exhibitions followed by the Ivy and the Mandarin Oriental-trained chef Justin Horne’s three-course, Cuban inspired menu, featuring an enticing sounding starter of mojito ceviche. To follow Horne will be serving up a main of achiote chicken & sea bass, and to finish off the eclectic offerings there will be an 'expressionist' cuban dessert of coconut, custard apple, papaya and chilli. For those who think food and art belong together, this certainly sounds like a must.
With an evening inspired by her emphasis on rituals and sculpture, all food will be savoured whilst guests enjoy elusive entertainment inspired by Mendieta's work, making it one of the most unusual places to eat in London this month.
Ana Mendieta Supper Club London
Tickets cost £40, including a welcome drink and three courses and the evening is being held on Regent’s Canal in the Guest Projects space:the initiative conceived by artist Yinka Shonibare. Art and food collide, then, at one of the top restaurants in London in terms of innovation, as the Ana Mendieta supper club creates an alternative universe and artists' playground – much like Ana Mendieta’s studio itself.
