RA Schools Show 2015, Royal Academy

Get a backstage pass to the elusive world of the Royal Academy Schools, London's top contemporary fine art school, at this year's annual exhibition for final year students.

This year marks the 140^th anniversary of the annual exhibition of works by artists graduating from the UK’s longest established art school, the historic Royal Academy Schools. You'll be able to examine works by rising stars in this venerated institution whose past and present members include J.M.W Turner, John Singer Sargent, John Millais, Antony Gormley and Tracey Emin - to name only a few!
The show presents 17 emerging artists each with their own solo space in the rarely-seen working studios. From woodcut prints and large-scale paintings to ceramics, sculptural objects, video and installations, the exhibition encompasses a broad array of media including pebble dash, cement, algae, spray paint, glue, coins, ink and even ketchup. Many works exhibited will be up for grabs, so contemporary art lovers can directly support the students’ ongoing artistic production.
The postgraduate RA Schools programme prides itself on being tailor-made to the individual, affording each artist the space and flexibility to develop work across a wide range of media, in dialogue with leading figures in the art world including Royal Academicians Michael Landy (Professor of Drawing), Fiona Rae (Professor of Painting) and Richard Wilson (Professor of Sculpture).
The show coincides with the mighty Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2015, which was actually established in 1769 to finance the training of young artists in the RA Schools.
