New V&A Europe Galleries
The V&A has undergone a major overhaul of its spectacular collection of 17th and 18th century European art and design, following the fantastic transformation of the Medieval and Renaissance Galleries, opened in December 2014. Discover how modern Europe was made with 1,100 items of sculpture, ceramics, furniture and painting across seven galleries from the collections of the finest European tastemakers, including Louis XIV, Marie Antoinette and Catherine the Great. Particular highlights you shouldn't miss are the ornate writing cabinet of King Augustus III of Poland and a bed by Napoleon's furniture maker George Jacob.
V&A architecture
The entire front wing of the South Kensington museum has changed, replacing the original 1970s interiors and Aston Webb architecture. Instead you'll discover the V&A's hidden gem, the stunning 18th century Meissen table fountain that was shattered into 150 pieces over a century ago and now repaired.
Step through the history of European design and take in the fantastic renovations that the V&A has undertaken in these new galleries.
