Prunella Clough, Osborne Samuel Gallery
Osborne Samuel Gallery in Mayfair revisits the quietly important 20th century artist Prunella Clough in a new exhibition
Few have heard her name before, but the quietly reserved Prunella Clough was actually one of the most fascinating post-war 20th century artists in Britain. Best known for her figurative paintings and drawings marked by the industry and labour of the homefront during World War II, Clough's work can be recognised by the grit of lorries and factory yards. Clough also toyed with abstraction, edging towards colour and greater scale in her later works.

Modern and Contemporary art gallery Osborne Samuel are displaying 70 paintings and works on paper by the British artist, mainly from their own collection and donations from private collectors. So if you missed the Prunella Clough Tate retrospective in 2007, this is a wonderful chance to learn more about a leading 20th century artist.
