Minds to Lose is multimedia artist Neha Choksi’s first solo venture in the UK and forms part of the Southbank Centre’s Alchemy Festival - celebrating the arts, politics and culture of South Asia. Pay a visit to the Hayward Gallery to catch Choksi's Trilogy on Absenting (2007-13): a series of three ritualistic video works which explore absence, substance and emptiness. Leaf Fall (2007–08), records the stripping of a peepul tree’s foliage over the course of a single day, while Iceboat (2012-13) shows Choksi rowing across a lake in a boat made of ice until it melts. Finally we recommend spending time with Minds to Lose (2008–11) which charts the anaesthetization of the artist alongside four farm animals.
Choksi undertakes these absurdist acts as a way of exploring the nature of existence and certainly makes us reconsider our own tragicomic relationship with the natural world!
