Tamas Dezso: Notes for an Epilogue, The Photographers’ Gallery
Tamas Dezso cracks wide-open the Post-Communist reality for hidden communities in Hungary and Romania at The Photographers’ Gallery exhibition
Notes for an Epilogue and Here, Anywhere present two fascinating collections of images by celebrated Hungarian photographer, Tamas Dezso. Many of the photos at The Photographers’ Gallery, London explore the changes that took place in Hungary and rural Romania after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s.
Life after the fall of communism
Offering an intimate insight into life on the fringes of an evolving society, Dezso’s haunting photographers record the reality of hidden communities living between East and West. With a measured focus upon the decaying ruins of the Soviet legacy, Dezso captures derelict factories and deserted ghost towns as symbols of the gradual and tragic loss of age-old traditions.
