Pocket Arts London exhibition
Pop-up extravaganza venue and community arts organisation, Pocket Arts opens a new exhibition, following on from the success of the Kensington & Fulham Open Studios, which tackles the idea that transient equals expendable. Located in a former fishing tackle shop, Refuse, Reuse features 50 artworks by 13 local and national artists working in a variety of mediums: from painting, print, photography and sculpture to film. Refuse Reuse takes a refreshing look at the creative value of reusing materials, ideas and images.
Company founder Lucy Beaumont explains:
 “This event, which reaches out to everyone from art enthusiasts to families and first-time art buyers, is another chance to create a more vibrant, dynamic and diverse art environment in our local neighbourhood...We want to help uncover the culture vibe bubbling away at the Western end of the district line - who says you have to go to Hackney for a pop-up?!”

Pocket Arts highlights
From Fabia Claris’s strutting peacock sculptures made from broken umbrellas and Tania Beamont’s abstract maps juxtaposing memory with invention, to James Taylor’s paintings blending modernist traditions with contemporary craft-based materials like fabrics, plaster and carpet – this new exhibition demonstrates the possibility of transforming detritus and ordinary stuff into works of art.
Exhibition events
You’ll have the chance to chat with the participating artists, who will visit the space intermittently throughout the show. The exhibition is also supported by an events programme which includes a children’s workshop, artists in conversation, a panel talk about pop-ups (of course!), a Spoken Word DJ night and a film screening.
This pop-up exhibition provides a great chance to see local artists at work if you are looking for things to do in west London.
