Oscar Santillan, Ecuador’s latest rising star in the contemporary art world, is a conceptual and multimedia artist who explores the malleable boundaries between fact and fiction. Connecting disparate elements to produce new experiences, Santillan sets us free from the arbitrary structures of normal life.

Santillan began his artistic career in Ecuador, before taking on international residencies in the US, Netherlands, and The Delfina Foundation, London. It is about time he had his first solo exhibition in London, after critical enthusiasm across the world.

Oscar Santillan has stolen earth and stone from the highest point of the country at the summit of 3028ft Scafell Pike, and placed it alongside a series of gestural drawings and text works. These unveil previously little-known writing by philosopher, Nietzsche.
