Marian Goodman Gallery presents the first large-scale London art show by stimulating young artist and representative of Denmark for the second time at this year’s Venice Biennale, Danh Vō.
Who is Danh Vō?
Born in Vietnam before fleeing to Denmark, Danh Vō is fascinated by what forms our sense of identity. From performance-based work to configurations of historically significant objects, he links aspects of his own life to the upheavals of colonial history.
Why is he importrant?
Danh Vō has enjoyed international acclaim, winning the Hugo Boss Prize 2012 for an assemblage of curious artefacts from the collection of late artist Martin Wong. You might also know him for recreating a full-scale copper Statue of Liberty and then scattering its fragments across the globe to question its integral concept of freedom.
