ICA Off-Site, The Old Selfridges Hotel

There is a definite autumnal chill in the air, which reminds us that it is that time of year again – the internationally acclaimed contemporary art fair, Frieze, will be taking over London soon.  Of the host of special events and exhibitions across the capital this October, we recommend saving a space in your diaries for the ICA's offsite project at the Old Selfridges Hotel which takes up one of the major themes of Frieze 2014 - dance and choreography.  
Our top picks from the ICA's juicy programme of music, dance, and discussions kick start with the symposium inspired “occasions”, organised by dance artist and curator Isabel Lewis on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th October. On Saturday 18th the investigative arts group, Siobhan Davies Dance, will be performing Table of Contents in the cavernous space of the Old Selfridges Hotel where the audience will occupy the same space as the dancers. This immersive dance piece was commissioned and first performed at the ICA earlier this year and addresses the problem of creating a dance archive, referencing other existing dances to form a kind of “meta-dance”. 
Throughout the week a series of "summits" in collaboration with Rhizome, a flourishing digital arts organisation based in New York, will address issues of digital culture and value in relation to art practice. The series continues a productive collaboration between Rhizome and the ICA which has previously seen discussions on cutting-edge topics like “Post Net Aesthetics”, and “Collecting Art in the Age of Digital Technology”.
