Patrick Caulfield, Landscape with Birds, 1963

For a distinctly British taste of Pop, head to Christie’s Mayfair where a new exhibition seeks to demonstrate for the first time how the entire phenomenon began in the 40s, on British soil. Many of the works, including those by David Hockney and Patrick Caulfield, have never been on public display before: this is a rare opportunity to view very private art. Christie's have curated the exhibition in collaboration with artists of the Pop Art movement and their families, ensuring credibility.

London is fizzing with pop with winter: view this alongside The Barbican's Pop Art Design and reflect on the movement as a whole: what exactly was Pop?
