London Art Fair 2018
London Art Fair 2018 is upon us: we tell you all you need to know about this world class art event
London Art Fair is a warren of booths, each one housing a well-respected art gallery. Radiant galleristas welcome you in, while well-dressed folk titter and circulate. Every year, London Art Fair kicks off the art fair season with glitz and glamour.
The 2018 edition will showcase predominantly Modern British art from the 20th and early 21st century, alongside prominent contemporary pieces, and work by emerging new talent. For its thirtieth anniversary year, London Art Fair brings together over 130 galleries from around the world, exhibiting sought-after works by renowned artists including Andy Warhol, Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, Frank Auerbach and Damien Hirst.
In celebration of their landmark 30th birthday, London Art Fair also presents a trio of curated projects and exhibitions. ArtProjects, Photo50 and a one-off exhibition curated by Kathleen Soriano, former Director of Exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts, highlight the diversity of works in British public collections as well as the innovative developments in contemporary art and photographic practice today.
A showcase of emerging talent, Art Projects features 33 participating galleries as well as a guest-curated section entitled Dialogues. Curated by Misal Adnan Yildiz, Dialogues presents selected works by pre-eminent women artists and focuses on the representation and recontextualisation of the female.
There's a full programme of talks and workshops to enjoy at London Art Fair, too.
The fair takes place in Angel, at the hulking Business Design Centre. You can spend the day there, hunting for a bargain, (pretty much everything is for sale) attending a few of the numerous lectures, or just soaking up the atmosphere, glass of champagne in hand. It's a great way to kick off the 2018 Art Fair season, so book a ticket .
