Be a big kid for the night with London Transport Museum Friday late and rediscover the city you thought you knew

London Transport Museum
Kids - move aside. The grownups are in town for one night only at the London Transport Museum's late night in their brand new exhibition designology.

Explore the aesthetic and design behind icons of London public transport and take a magnifying glass to London's extraordinary engineering and architectural systems that keep the city ticking over, from the Victorian engineering genius to modernist masterpieces.

Grab yourself a gin cocktail and rediscover the city you thought you knew as you journey through historic maps, tickets and signage and imagine the city of the future with futuristic design projects. On this adult-only Friday Late, jump into creative activities inspired by the exhibition, and there will also be a DJ and bars with a range of food and drinks for party lovers to enjoy.

  • Be the first to see the Museum’s brand new immersive exhibition designology and take a guided tour of the exhibition to discover highlights and exclusive facts

  • Take inspiration from the famous Modernist Paolozzi mosaics at Tottenham Court Road station and create your own coaster to take home
  • Choose a favourite place, route, memory or journey in London or elsewhere, and decide how you want to illustrate it before transforming it into a map with the help of artist Stephen Walter
  • Hear Design and Heritage Manager at London Underground, Mike Ashworth, talk about the evolution of designed station environments, and the challenge of protecting the heritage of artistic works on the network
  • Discover the design details behind luxury Spanish spirit Gin Mare, made with unusual botanicals such as olive and rosemary. Join their expert mixologists as they uncover the story behind this unique drink, with tastings, botanicals, bottle and brand design – along with what makes a perfect cocktail
  • Be a big kid for the night and explore London Transport Museum after dark: climb aboard buses, trains and trams, try your hand at a Tube driving simulator and explore the new London by Design interactive gallery
  • Buy two Gin Mare cocktails and get a bowl of olives or strawberries to share
