The ING Discerning Eye Exhibition, Mall Galleries

At the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition, small is beautiful. Now in its 25th year, the annual treat for London gallery-goers showcases artworks no larger than 50 centimetres in size, all of which are for sale and ideal for those with limited space. The works are largely affordable too, with prices starting at £80. The 2023 exhibition is showcasing over 600 artworks by more than 380 artists. It's a carefully curated selection, whittled down from 6,500 entries. The artwork will be shown and sold at the Mall Galleries from 17 to 26 November 2023, and online until 31 December 2023

The artworks in the exhibition are chosen by six art world experts – two artists, two critics and two collectors – who curate their sections as individual displays within the exhibition. This year, the team comprises former England footballer and manager Tony Adam, Government Art Collection director Eliza Gluckman, light artist Chris Levine, curator Péjú Oshin, singer and actor Ian H. Watkins and sculptor Julian Wild.

You can expect original works in a dizzying variety of materials, ranging from traditional painting and photography to daring prints and witty sculptures.

In addition to bringing together a diverse array of art, the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition also gives new and undiscovered artists the chance to showcase their work alongside established names. There are a range of prizes on offer for exhibitors, totalling more than £15,000 in value, plus a bursary and mentoring opportunities. Every sale helps fund future initiatives to platform the work of lesser-known artists.
