Christie's Lates: Incredible Inventions & Curious Collections

For the next installment of Christie's Lates, Out of the Ordinary auction comes to life in South Ken

For most of us, Christie's Auction House feels firmly-bolted: a fortress peopled by the colourfully-suited assistants of private collectors, and jabbering auctioneers.

This is entirely false. Did you know, for example, that you can walk in to Christie's, seven days a week, and browse the lots of an upcoming auction? Or that there'll always been an assistant on hand to talk you the collection? Or that you can sit and read in a lovely café?

Every so often, Christie's throw a little soiree around an auction, which is open to all. Head to their South Ken out post on 6 September, for their Incredible Inventions & Curious Collections Late, organised around their Out of the Ordinary sale. Christies' specialists will be on hand to discuss the lots of the exhibition, which include such curios as a set of keys from the Titanic, Lawrence of Arabia's headscarf, John Lennon's tooth, Elvis' bible and Napoleon's hat an Princess Di's dress.
