Of all the many must-watch shows on TV this Christmas, 2016's Agatha Christie re-make Witness for the Prosecution stands to be a serious contender for most talked about. Last year's creeping Christie adaptation And Then There Were None was a break-out hit, and that was without Toby Jones and Sex in the City's Kim Cattrall in the lead roles.
Set in 1920s London, where the flapper girls run amok in their diamonds and feathers, a brutal murder has taken place and stained the plush carpets of a handsome London townhouse. Emily French (Kim Cattrall) has been slaughtered in her own home by the young bartender, Leonard Vole (Billy Howle), who seemingly seduced the older Ms French into leaving him her vast fortune and has been charged with murdering his benefactor. Or did he?
Starring Toby Jones as Vole's lawyer and an unusual amount of sex, swearing and brutality for the BBC -- if you only watch one TV programme this Christmas, let it be this.
