Your essential round-up | Three things to do today
1) Join 1000s at the Trafalgar Square Christmas lights switch-on
One of the last trees to be switched on in London, but one of the most important. Head to Trafalgar Square for the special ceremony and lighting of a huge Norway Spruce.
Carols around the Christmas tree are led by the choir of St Martin's in the Fields. The service is expected to be attended by thousands, and it's conducted by the Lord Mayor of Westminster.
The Christmas tree has been donated by the city of Oslo every year since 1947- a gift from the Norwegian people in gratitude for British support during WWII.

Don’t miss out on a chance to get 50% off lunchtime food at Bar Block Steakhouse behind King’s Cross Station before their official opening in early December.
Enjoy a wide range of hand-cut steaks alongside a choice selection of craft beers and cocktails. Their deal lasts between 12:00 - 14:00 from Tuesday 29 November to Sunday 4 December. The restaurant’s official opening is on 5 December.
3) Celebrate the ultimate rule breaker - Robert Rauschenberg - at the Tate Modern
This is a really big deal. American artist Robert Rauschenberg defined a moment in art. He defied categorisation, but bridged the gap between Abstract Expressionism and Pop art. His works, though, rarely travel - the painting-sculpture hybrids are simply too fragile.
Best pals with Robert Mapplethorpe, Rauschenberg was a true adventurer. This Tate Modern Robert Rauschenberg exhibition is the first major retrospective of his work since his death in 2008 and ends a shocking gap of 35 years since the last UK show. And oh, what a thrill.
