Feel Britannia: Shobana Jeyasingh
SERIES: We ask choreographer Shobana Jeyasingh "What makes you feel emotional about Britain?"
With all the rhetoric and Big Ideas surrounding the general election, Culture Whisper wanted to collect some of the little things that spark emotions about Britain.
In anticipation of May 7, we asked our favourite figures in the arts to tell us what makes Britain feel like home.
Shobana Jeyasingh Choreographer:
"Blackfriars Bridge at any time of day and in any weather captures both the energy of the new and the serenity of the really old. It is a very reassuring feeling crossing the Thames like millions before me down the ages. It knits you into the fabric of Britain."
Choreographer Shobana Jeyasingh has been creating new works for 25 years. She is head of pioneering dance company Shobana Jeyasingh Dance.
