With all the rhetoric and Big Ideas surrounding the general election, Culture Whisper wanted to collect some of the little things that spark emotions about Britain.

In anticipation of May 7, we asked our favourite figures in the arts to tell us what makes Britain feel like home.

Camila Batmanghelidjh CBE, founder and CEO of charity Kids Company:

"Black Cab drivers, long queues in A&E, sitting on metal chairs with holes in them, feisty social workers in local authority offices who hate their jobs but care about kids, judges who look like walking portraits from an antique shop, dead lettuce in sandwiches and fried eggs at the caff, dirty ambulances, hotels that try to look posh but are in fact design mistakes and finally the Prime Minister's high end hair mousse."

Camila Batmanghelidjh CBE is a businesswoman, author and CEO of Kid's Company
